Once you make the decision to attend a private school or vocational school, you must notify me and our School Counseling Secretary, Mrs. Melo ([email protected]). We will need to obtain a release of records so that we can send the new school all of the records at the end of the school year.

Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School
- An admissions counselor will visit the Ahern on Monday, October 16, 2023 to give a presentation to 8th graders.
- Their Open House is scheduled for Saturday November 18, 2023 from 11:00-3:00 pm. You must register in advance. There are flyers in classrooms and in the Counseling Suite at Ahern.
- To apply for admissions, you and your student must go to their website, create an account and follow the steps to apply. The application deadline is December 31, 2023. Once you have applied, I will upload all of the necessary documentation that is required. Mrs. Henry's deadline is December 15, 2023 to ensure enough time to submit school documents.
- Students will have their interviews with the admissions counselor here at Ahern in January/February (date TBD). I will meet with the applicants and will provide them with interview tips and practice questions prior to the date of the interviews.
- An admissions counselor will be coming to Ahern on Monday, October 16, 2023 to talk to all 8th graders.
- The Open House is Sunday October 1, 2023 from 1-4 pm.
- To apply for admissions, you and your student must go to their website (norfolkaggie.org), create an account, and follow the steps to apply. Once you have applied, I will upload all of the necessary documentation that is required. The priority deadline is February 1, 2024.
- Students will have their interviews at Norfolk Aggie and will be arranged through their admissions office. I am happy to meet with any students who would like help preparing for their interviews, I will just need some notice in advance to be sure I have enough time to schedule the meeting.
- Most private schools use an online application program called Ravenna. If your child applies to a private high school, please send me an email and let me know that they have applied. Ravenna requests are delivered to my Spam account, so I will have no way of knowing that they applied unless you notify me. I will be sure that the required documentation is uploaded.
- Deadlines for private school applications vary. It is best to provide me with at least 2 weeks notice to send documentation and complete the school portion of the application.
- Please be mindful of letters of recommendation needed. If you would like an Ahern staff person to write a letter of recommendation on your student's behalf, it is best practice to request this with adequate time for completion and submission, typically, a minimum of two weeks time.
- The majority of our students will attend Foxborough High School.
- The counselors from FHS will come to Ahern and will talk to students about FHS and their program of studies (usually in January).
- Within a few weeks of the presentation, FHS counselors will come to Ahern classes and will help students with their course selection. All students (even those awaiting admissions decisions from other schools) should complete their course selection at FHS.
